Negotiations Update

Faculty Association members ratified changes made during spring 2006 reopener negotiations in July. The current faculty agreement includes those changes. All faculty will be surveyed in fall 2006 to identify issues for spring 2007 negotiations. In Spring 2007, the District and the Faculty Association shall have the option to re-open negotiations on five (5) issues selected by each party. All issues mutually agreed to by both parties during this successor contract negotiation will not count as re-openers. Instead, they will be seen as completion of the contract.

Puttin' On The Hits (click on video panel to stop playback)

The Faculty Association sponsors an annual student scholarship fundraiser known as
Puttin' On The Hits. In the show faculty, staff, administrators and students lip sync to a variety of songs from famous groups, musicians and Broadway shows.

The show, which began in January 1999, was written, produced and directed by Dr. Ron Reel, past President of the Faculty Association. This year the show had a new writer, producer and director, Professor Joan Sholars from the Mathematics and Computer Science Department.

All net proceeds from the show are awarded to Mt. SAC students as scholarships. In 2006, the Association awarded $12,000 to deserving Mt. SAC students. The scholarships are awarded at the Student Awards ceremony in the Sophia B. Clarke Theater.

Puttin' On The Hits 2008 is scheduled for Friday, March 14th at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 15th at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Mark your calendars! The 10th Annual Puttin' On The Hits will feature some of the best acts from the previous 9 years.

Retirement / Tenure Tea
The Faculty Association sponsored Retirement/Tenure Tea is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20th from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. in the Faculty Association Conference Room (115), building 23. Faculty who are retiring at the end of the 2007-08 academic year and those receiving tenure will be honored. Lunch will be provided. You can view the 2006 faculty retirement video celebrating 318 years of service to our campus and students–(approximately 10 minutes long–link to video on sidebar.) Please join us in celebrating our outstanding faculty!
